Seeking to grow its foothold in the US Midwest, GE’s Distributed Power has established an agreement with Clarke Energy to serve as GE’s authorised distributor of Jenbacher gas engines in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin.

This agreement covers the entire range of Jenbacher products and service parts, including Clarke Energy’s maintenance contracts as standard, encompassing preventative and corrective maintenance, parts, lube oil and expert field service technicians.

The relationship comes as GE states it continues to rapidly expand its Jenbacher engine technology offerings in the United States. “As the Midwest continues to transform parts of its energy portfolio to renewable energy resources, we are pleased to work with Clarke Energy to showcase how our fuel-flexible Jenbacher solutions can be customized for a broad range of industrial and residential on-site power projects,” commented Wouter-Jan van der Wurff, general manager at GE’s Distributed Power business. “

The Midwest has for long been dependent on coal for the majority of its electricity supply but new policies encourage a significant increase in renewables and gas generation. Cogeneration and industrial-size generating opportunities are seen growing in Chicago and other large urban areas that offer favourable policies.

With more than 1,000 employees and a worldwide distribution network, Clarke Energy currently services a 5,000 MW installed base across the globe. It can either supply customers with a Jenbacher gas engine or deliver a full turnkey, integrated, multi-engine power plant.
