Norwegian gas exports reached a new record in 2016, standing at 108.56 billion standard cubic meters delivered to Germany, Belgium, France and the UK, according to Norway's transmission system operator Gassco.
That represented a further increase from the 108.44 Bscm exported from the Norwegian continental shelf to European buyers via these four countries in 2015, it said.
“Deliveries show that European demand for Norwegian gas is higher than ever,” commented Frode Leversund, CEO of Gassco.
Deliveries of natural gas liquids (NGL) and condensate from the Gassco-operated process plants at Kårstø and Kollsnes (via Vestprosess) in western Norway also rose in 2016, reaching a total 10 million tonnes compared to 9.6 million tonnes in 2015.
The TSO also stressed one of its key objectives is “to run this network with the highest possible regularity” adding the average regularity for the transport system during 2016 was 99.71%, compared with 99.38% the year before.
