MAN Diesel & Turbo is to supply a compact gas turbine package for the decentralised production of heat and power to ENN Ubiquitous Energy Network Technology, a subsidiary of the ENN Group, in China.
The unit includes a MAN MGT series gas turbine which will produce approximately 6 MW of power and 12 MW of heat for an industrial zone in Huai’an (Jiangsu province).
This compact unit utilises over 80% of the energy stored in the fuel through CHP technology, MAN Diesel & Turbo said, adding it was supplying the order in collaboration with the Chinese company Guangdong Liyu New Energy Science & Technology.
"This order from China for the MGT series emphasises how the energy production market is developing” commented Armin Haller, senior vice president at MAN Diesel & Turbo for the sales & contracts industries division. “there is an increased focus in the People's Republic on emissions reduction and maximum efficiency in heat and power installations,” he said.
The technology replaces an existing coal-fired installation, the company said adding “this is a further contribution to the Chinese government's aim of lowering emissions significantly by producing energy through highly efficient, gas-powered installations, thus reducing negative impacts on the population and the environment.”
"The Chinese energy sector has a target of making further reductions in emissions by 2020. We see the customer's short lead time as a positive indication of the urgency with which Chinese industry is pursuing these objectives” said Nadege Laurent, project manager sales at MAN Diesel & Turbo.
